CD Projekt Red has rolled out a substantial patch for the new Witcher 3 Remastered edition of the game, notably adding more lighting-related options to the console versions of the game, such as Bloom, enabling you to turn them off, should you wish.

The short version

  • CD Projekt Red also noted it was working on an update for the Switch 2 version of The Witcher 3 Remastered to get "closer parity between all versions of the game", and to improve image "clarity and sharpness".
  • More information on the Switch 2 patch is coming in the "following days".
  • Notable fixes in Witcher 3 patch 5.01 - out now on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series S/X - include fixes to dodging and odd bugs such as those where Geralt's stamina would suddenly deplete when sprinting and dodging at the same time.

What happened

Player-controlled boats shouldn't "start moving uncontrollably" any more, which is a relief, ladder "interactions" have been improved, and witcher mentor Vesemir won't keep repeating himself when you cast the Quen Sign. The Witcher 3 Remastered edition arrived for free early last week , representing an extraordinarily generous update which refreshes and revitalises the beloved RPG game.

Why it matters

Millions of players flocked back to The Witcher 3 to play it, but not all received the update well, mostly because of bugs introduced, but also because of visual changes some felt overly brightened the game.
