The rumoured Xbox Mythic Achievements - the equivalent of PlayStation's Platinum Trophies - have been officially announced, and they're rolling out for Xbox Insiders now.
The short version
- Microsoft announced Mythic Achievements yesterday evening and, as expected, they're awarded when you earn all the other Achievements for a game - exactly the requirements needed to earn a Platinum Trophy on PlayStation.
- Mythics are not affected by Achievement-adding DLC (Achievements added after a game's release are labelled as "add-on" Achievements) and perhaps most importantly, they're awarded retroactively, as far back as for Xbox 360 games.
- That means you could have a fat pile of Mythics as soon as they're turned on, providing you've actually Achievement-completed lots of games, that is.
What happened
Mythics arrive as part of an Achievement tidy-up on Xbox, which brings with it a new Gaming tab for profiles that organises Achievement-hunting progress better. You can also browse friends' Gaming tabs if you're hoping to feel superior to them.
Why it matters
There's no word on a date for a full roll-out for Mythic Achievements, but you can join the Xbox Insider Program by downloading the Xbox Insider Hub for Xbox Series S/X and Xbox One, and for PC.
